Tyrepower Tasmania Supersprint Preview

Well it’s across the Bass Strait for us, as we travel to Tassie for the Tyrepower Tasmania Supersprint this weekend!

We had a decent run at this circuit last year, we finished 4th and 5th so I’m hoping we can maintain our speed that we’ve had so far this season and hopefully have another successful round this weekend.

Our cars have obviously changed from last year, so I’m interested to see how they go around this track.

It’s definitely a different style of track; it has very slow corners and a lot of braking, which will actually suit our car and how it’s set up – so I’m really looking forward to getting out there and giving it a good crack!

It’s the shortest track on the calendar, being only 2.4kms, so qualifying is key. There are only 3 corners and it’s very hard to get a perfect lap in around this circuit.

Another key element to tackling Symmons Plains, is maintaining your tyres as they wear quickly, so it’s important that when they’re at their optimum you do your best time. It’s a strange circuit, but it’s going to create some good racing.

This weekend we have a different qualifying system, we semi qualify to make the first lot of top ten on Friday; which is something we haven’t done before – so that will add another interesting element to the weekend. Everyone at the team is feeling pretty good after coming off a couple of successful rounds, but there’s still 14 rounds to go, so we need to make sure we keep our heads down and keep punching away.

We have a couple of new components to try on the car, which will have a small performance effect, but otherwise we haven’t done anything-different leading into this round.

Can’t wait to get back into the car for the first practice session, Friday 6th April, 11:30am (AEST).

See you at the track!
