So close…but so far

What a week! Bathurst always has surprises but this year was extraordinary. After breaking the lap record on the Thursday, I thought we were in a good position for the weekend.
But that changed on Friday when I crashed the car during qualification. I hit the wall at over 200 kph. As a result we started the big race at the back of the grid.

Dean started the race and our strategy worked well. We slowly climbed up the order until we found ourselves in P1. There was so much carnage. But history was made when turn 2 was deemed unsafe. The race was red flagged and the race was stopped. It was a weird feeling.

After the restart Dean reported issues with the alternator. By the time I got in the car the issue got worse and I was forced to retire.

Motorsport can be so cruel and the mountain can be even more unpredictable.

Congrats to my team mates Chaz Moster and Paul Morris and my team at FPR. It was a terrific win for Ford and the team!
