Is it really that time of year? Time fly’s when you’re having fun.
Sandown is upon us again, and that means one thing – my mate Dean Canto is back in the car. The whole complexion of the season and race weekend changes now, because you have someone else that will make a difference. It’s not just about me now…it’s about your co-driver.
This is our fourth year together, which is pretty cool. Not many driver pairings last that long. Dean is possibly the best co-driver not currently racing full time. And it’s easy to forget that Dean is actually a full time race driver. Dino races in the GT Championship and also works for Porsche and other manufacturers on drive days. But Dino also owns and operates a stunt driving school!
Dino and I have tasted success at the Gold Coast. Who can forget our 2012 Bathurst when we came close to winning. Every other race we’ve qualified well or almost won. So, it’s easy to be confident going into Sandown this weekend.
Perhaps what makes this weekend a little different, is the excitement within the team. For Dean, his involvement has a little more riding on it….a Championship. This time last year I was struggling to challenge the Top 10 in the Championship. But this year I have a real shot at winning the Championship. Sandown can set me up for Bathurst and the remainder of the year. With extra points up for grabs Dino and I know what’s at stake.
The weather looks good for a change! Sunny and low 20s…which will suit our car.
See you there!
