Reynolds revitalised and ready to tackle round two at Townsville

With the Supercars season end set in stone and four rounds to go, there’s no denying that Reynolds will be pushing hard this weekend at the second leg of the double-header at Townsville. The Penrite racer qualified well at last weekend’s NTI Townsville SuperSprint but couldn’t make the results stick come the races.

The #9 Penrite Commodore came close to claiming podium results and hopefully the five days between rounds has given David and the team some time to unlock more speed.

“We definitely have the speed, it’s just unlocking those last bits and really getting the most out of the car,” said Reynolds.

“Obviously the field is really close too, which makes it challenging; but it also provides for some good racing.”

The Penrite team also continue their relationship with the Royal Australian Artillery and visited the Lavarack Barracks base in Townsville this week, where they were put to work with an intense training session.

“It was really good to hang out with the guys and girls at Lavarack Barracks. We are really proud of the relationship we have formed over the last few years,” said Reynolds.

“Being involved with these guys has opened up a whole new realisation of the amazing work the Army do throughout the community. I’m proud to carry the Army badge on our cars.”

It was also announced this week following on from this weekend’s Robson Civil Projects Townsville SuperSprint round, that the Virgin Australia Supercars will then head to South Australia for a back-to-back weekend of racing at The Bend, followed by the season finale at Bathurst, 15-18 October.

“I’m really looking forward to the next couple of months. It’s nice having an idea on how the rest of the season is going to roll out and given the situation, Supercars have done a great job in doing their best to keep us racing,” said the 35-year old.

The Virgin Australia Supercars hit the track for practice one of the Robson Civil Projects Townsville SuperSprint on Saturday 4th September at 10am local time.
