David Reynolds – Watpac Townsville 400 Wrap Up

Well it certainly wasn’t a fairy-tale ending to Townsville. Friday was pretty wet, so we chose to sit out the first practice session. We rolled out for practice 2 and got up to speed quickly and were second fastest after the first run. After playing with a few different set up options, we finished up P4 for the session.

Saturday’s qualifying session was intense! I claimed my 13th pole in my career, my first pole for the season. I was unable to hold onto that come the race and only managed to cross the line in P7 due to a wheel nut failure in the pits. I was having a good stint prior to that incident though and was confident I would have come away with a podium. That’s motor racing though!

Come qualifying on Sunday, I was hopeful we could bounce back and gain some positions – which we did and I finished up P2 – giving me a spot in the top ten shootout. The final race saw me start from P3 but unfortunately a hit with McLaughlin during the first lap put an end to our day. Into turn one Scott broke early, I went down the inside to try and pass him – it looked like he turned right a little bit and we crashed, ripping the steering out of my hands. Was a very disappointing end to the weekend.

A big thanks to the crew for all their efforts all weekend and also to all my sponsors and supporters for your on-going support.
