This weekend we take on the Truck Assist Winton SuperSprint and I’m really hoping we can redeem ourselves after last year’s efforts!
It was probably one of the worst rounds on the calendar year last year for us. We qualified terribly ahead of the first race on Saturday and then crashed with Simona during the race. Then after replacing a component on the car after Saturday’s crash, something fell off the car during Sunday’s qualifying, so we were at the back of the grid for the final race and only managed to bring it home in 15th from last. SO… I’m hoping we don’t have a repeat of that, fingers crossed we can bring home some decent results.
Winton is our test track, I’ve driven around it for a very long time – since I was about 16 years old, so I know it like the back of my hand.
It has 12 turns in total, it’s probably the slowest average speed of all the circuits we go to at 125km/hr with a top speed of only 225km/hr, so it’s not a very fast track but it makes for some really good racing with plenty of passing opportunities.
This round will also see only a 2-day race weekend, so it’s only Saturday and Sunday that we take to the track so it’s a nice quick short round. The co – drivers will also get the chance to take the wheel for a practice session too.
We had a test day last week and we have a really good base set up for our cars leading into the weekend, so I’m really looking forward to it and seeing how we go!
As long as It doesn’t rain, I think we will have a good weekend!
Hope to see you there!
