What a weekend we have coming up for the Townsville 400! Looking forward to seeing some sunshine and of course, sporting our one-off army inspired liveries!
I really enjoy this round – the atmosphere is good, the weather’s good (hot, but good for us Melbournian’s) and I enjoy this street style circuit! It’s fast flowing and a really difficult track, but I do enjoy it!
Last year we didn’t have the best round – I finished 7th in Saturday’s race and 6th for Sunday’s race. It wasn’t the worst round – but certainly wasn’t our best! We had reasonable speed in qualifying, we just couldn’t get the tyres to hang in there during the race. It’s a really hard track on tyres. We will be running the soft tyres there this weekend as well, so there’s a lot of strategy at play with the teams which will be interesting.
This weekend will see two 200km races (70-laps each) as well as a top ten shootout on the Sunday. Hopefully we can pull together some good results, qualify up the pointy end of the grid to then execute for the race!
I’m currently third in the Championship standings so I’ll certainly have my elbows out!
Hope to see you at the track!
