It certainly wasn’t the fairy tale ending I was hoping for at the Superloop Adelaide 500! However, there were a lot of positives to take away from the weekend regardless.
We managed to average in the top 10 all weekend, but just couldn’t bring home the results we wanted. Saturday we just made it into the Shootout, leaving us to start Race 1 in sixth – but unfortunately only managed to cross the line in eighth.
Sunday looked promising, after making the Shootout again – where I would start Sunday’s 250km race from third. I got a really good start, but after a scramble – I was hit by Waters; which ultimately cost me a few spots. I pushed hard to gain positions; but it really ruined my flow.
After the Safety car, I was able to get the lead on the restart, but when I came in for my last stop – the car wasn’t performing the best and I was unable to race forward and ended up P9!
It was great to see that as the weekend went on, the cars improved – which is a true credit to the team! Unfortunately, we just didn’t have the pace we thought we would have at the start of the year.
We will regroup and sit down, go back to the drawing board ahead of the Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 in a couple of week’s time!
Thanks to the crew for a positive weekend and to everyone for their on going support!
See you at the Melbourne 400!
