Well the countdown is just about over to the biggest race of the year!…. The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000!
I absolutely cannot wait to get back to The Mountain! My co-driver Luke and I will obviously be looking to defend our title there, so it is on!
I feel like we are more prepared than last year, the category will go back from its soft tyre compound used at Sandown to the harder tyre for this weekend and I feel like this is a good advantage for us. We know the set-up we’re going to roll out with and we learnt some stuff at Tailem Bend on the hard tyre.
Bathurst is one of those races where it doesn’t matter where you qualify; it always throws up something different. There was rain last year, we had dry running until the race and then it pissed down with rain for six of the seven hours. It always throws up that other element that you’ve got to account for.
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve raced around Bathurst – it’ll always throw something at you.
The track is 6.213km in length, with an average speed of 178km/h and a top speed of 300km/h along the famous Conrod Straight.
The atmosphere is always amazing… and interesting.. but it’s always a lot of fun!
It’s the same tyre, same race, same car, same team, same drivers. It should be easy for us!
I’ll hit the track for practice 1 on Thursday 4th October at 9:25am. View the full schedule here: https://www.supercars.com/2018-supercheap-auto-bathurst-1000-schedule-results/
Bring it on!
