David Reynolds – Perth Supersprint Preview
Round 5, here we come! Well last year, Perth wasn’t too kind to us – our best result was 9th and 16th. Unfortunately, the circuit seemed to heavily favour the Fords, but I’m hoping that’s different this year – especially now with the new ZB Commodore, which hasn’t been around this track.
We finished Phillip Island on a high and our car had great pace in Race 2, so that also gives us a bit of hope – so I’m really looking forward to getting out there and giving it a red hot crack!
Everyone at Erebus is in good spirits after Phillip Island, both Anton and I had good pace and we improved our cars from Race 1 to Race 2, which is quite hard to do. I’m hoping we can continue that momentum for the crew and keep clawing away at those Championship points.
Barbagallo Raceway certainly makes for some interesting racing. The layout of the track isn’t too bad, however it’s the surface of the track that keeps everyone on their toes! It has high tyre degradation and therefore makes it very challenging and physically demanding. It’ll be important to qualify up the front as well as have a good strategy in place to ensure we finish up the pointy end of the grid.
This round is always good to get away to, the weather is always nice and it almost has a country feel so the paddock isn’t as busy as some of the other rounds. I’m looking forward to getting over there and fingers crossed we can bag another podium!
We hit the track for the first Practice session on Friday 4th May, 11:05am.
Hope to see you at the track!
