We’re headed to New Zealand this weekend for the ITM Auckland Supersprint, and what better way to head into the weekend than with the announcement of re-signing with Penrite Racing for another 10 years! Can’t thank everyone enough for their support and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.
I’m really hoping that we can back up the good news with a successful weekend. In the past, I’ve had pretty good results at Pukekohe Raceway. I’ve been on the podium four times and claimed one pole, so I’m confident that we can have a successful weekend.
I do enjoy this track. It’s 2.9kms in length and we reach up to 260km/hr up the main straight into turn 1. It’s high speed, rough, flows good and is challenging. From turns 8 to 11, it’s flat out balls to the wall and then goes quite narrow through to turns 11-10 whilst going through at extremely high speeds so it’s certainly a ballsy track. Heading into turn 1 it’s a real rough approach, in fifth gear going 210kms/hr, so the car really bounces around.
This weekend we will also see the return of the ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout, which will be held on Sunday. Interesting to know that I also hold the longest streak of consecutive Shootout appearances among active drivers, with 18 in a row since Darwin 2017. I’m pretty proud of that achievement and it’s not something I could have achieved without the effort from the whole team.
Let’s hope I can continue to mirror the positive results I have previously had at this track this weekend as well as into the back end of the year!
And as the New Zealander’s say, “Kia Ora”!
