David Reynolds – Gold Coast 600 Wrap Up

Although the weekend didn’t end as we expected after the torrential rain; we had a relatively good weekend!

On the Saturday we qualified 3rd and missed the front row of the grid by nothing! Come Saturday’s race, Luke didn’t get the best start after having some technical issues, however managed to get into a good groove and handed the car over in P2. After our pitstop, I came out in 4th behind Courtney and we had a good battle. Unfortunately, I couldn’t pass Courtney and it was too risky to make a move, so we missed out on a surfboard by bugger all!

Sunday’s qualifying session was a little average for us and we finished up 8th. We changed the car in hope of getting it to turn a bit better and get some more speed, but it unfortunately went the other way.

We just snuck into the top ten shootout and it was awesome to have come away from there with pole. I certainly wasn’t expecting it after seeing my time, but it was an awesome effort by everyone to turn the car around and come away with a front row start for Sunday’s race.

We knew it was going to rain during Sunday’s race – but that was the most rain I’ve seen at a round like that. We didn’t get too far into the race before it was called off and listed as a non-event.

A big thanks to Luke for sharing the wheel with me for the Pirtek Endurance Cup – I look forward to seeing what we can do next year!

Next stop, ITM Auckland SuperSprint Nov 2-4.

DR!
