David Reynolds – Darwin Triple Crown Wrap Up
I am absolutely wrapped with our results over in Darwin – our best result yet! To come away with two podiums in the one weekend is always a positive.
Saturday was a really successful day. We had a good qualifying session and ended up second fastest, not far off pole. I got a pretty average start in the race and ended up going three-wide into turn one and Anton was on my outside after he got a really good start. Unfortunately, McLaughlin was on my inside and although I tried to brake as late as I could, Mclaughlin managed to hold position. Thankfully, we managed to hold on and stay close to the front runners. The crew did a mega job with their pit stops, which is what ultimately put us on the podium, so I couldn’t be prouder.
I was stoked that we could continue the positive momentum into Sunday, we had such a great day from qualifying to the race. I qualified third, however lost a spot in the top ten shootout which meant I was to start from P3 for the race. I got a really good start though and ended up second by the first corner. I did try having a lunge at Scott, but he was too far in front. The team did a fantastic job again with the pit stops, making us the fastest cars in pit lane. Without all of the effort from the team, we wouldn’t have finished where we did. So, I certainly owe it to them!
A big thanks also to all my sponsors and supporters!
Next stop, more sunshine as we head to Watpac Townsville 400 5 – 7 July!
