David Reynolds completes first official test in Penrite Mustang

David Reynolds has completed his first shake down in the Ford Mustang at Winton Motorsport on Friday with new team, Kelly Grove Racing.

After the initial test was postponed due to the Melbourne 5-day lockdown, Victorian teams were able to go ahead and complete their first official test ahead of round 1 at Bathurst next week.

“It was great to get in the car and get a feel for it,” admitted Reynolds.

Reynolds burst out of the blocks early on setting one of the fastest times for the morning session.

“After the ride day we set about making some ergonomic changes which helped a lot. So today was a chance to get a feel for the changes but also try a few things with a car that was essentially built around Rick Kelly.

“Kelly Grove Racing run a very professional stable and so we got through everything we needed to and feel confident going into Bathurst next week.”

This will be Reynolds’ first season with Kelly Grove Racing and there is no doubt the new father is looking forward to a successful year.

“I’m very, very excited to be a part of this team,” said Reynolds.

“I think this team is really going to come strong this year and beyond. Having Stephen Grove on board now is really great for the team. Steven comes with plenty of knowledge, he’s a very good guy and got a great personality. He’s very enthusiastic and he wants to win.

“Todd (Kelly) I have known for a very long time. I used to be a part of this team for one year in 2011, so it’s funny how things come full circle. And funnily enough – I’m also still in the same house I was back when I was racing in this team all those years ago, so in my life not much has changed!”

Penrite Oil have also found their way to Kelly Grove Racing offering further comfort for the Bathurst champion.

“I’m so pleased to have Penrite at my new team. It’s just easier when you’re familiar with your surroundings but also the people you need to interact with from day to day. It’s now such a visibly Aussie brand and they’re such a great company to deal with because they’re so passionate about motorsport and cars in general.

“Make sure to cheer on the #26 Penrite Mustang and if you’re ever at the track, make sure to come and say hi. Can’t wait to get into it!”

The Supercars hit the track for the first round of the season at the Repco Bathurst 500 Feb 26-28.
